Choosing Anniversary Flowers
Floral gifts are just part of an anniversary.
Do you know what type of flower you're supposed to use with your anniversary bouquet? No? Then you will definitely want to take a look at our handy list, each year is another flower, and while you might get away with a nice bouquet of roses it will not be the same. Each year is another stage of your marriage and they are marked with the different circumstances many married couples, both when these traditions were being made, and today still, have faced.
With that said, is it any wonder, why for example, the third anniversary is marked with a sunflower? No. Many couples didn't have the means for expensive, or exotic flowers. Any while not marriage is the same, the same flowers are given at each of the various stages.
So where are you? Year one, five, or fifty? You will probably notice, that after the twentieth year of marriage that the increments become less frequent. That is because, well, while there would be enough floral variation, it may become slightly redundant. A number of years (sunflower and daisy) have a couple of different options for you to choose from. Most flowers have similar variation. You could easily fill every year, from year one to the hundredth anniversary with a specific flower. If you're on an in between anniversary, don't worry if you pick something else.
We have linked each type of flower to a good page on Better Homes and Gardens where you will get an idea of what the flower looks like.
