Choosing Gemstones for your Anniversary

Precious stones have been linked to anniversaries for a long time, some for hundreds of years. But what is behind the meaning of this tradition?

Humankind has always placed a lot of meaning on stones, not just the gemstones, so it comes as little surprise that we would link them to the years we've spent with somebody we love. They symbolize our feelings, our appreciation and our love.

Each one has it's own meaning, is linked to different parts of our cultural heritage and of course comes in different price ranges. Is it any wonder that, while diamonds are forever, it also takes forever until you're given one as a gift?

Kidding aside, here we can see which stone is given during which year of marriage. As with the other tables it should be noted that not every year is linked to a stone. After the fifth year together things slow to a five year cycle. Then again to a ten year cycle after the thirtieth anniversary.
